Hitech GP’s three young chargers are gearing up for the opening rounds of the Rokit British F4 Championship that take place at Donington Park this coming weekend (April 27-28). All three have impressed in pre-season testing and are looking forward to getting the 30-round series underway.
Britain’s Deagen Fairclough, 17, returns to the British F4 Championship this season after racing with Hitech GP in the UAE F4 series earlier in the year. The Horley-based driver came through the ROKiT-backed Racing Stars eSports competition to compete in Formula 4 in 2023 and has shown great pace in testing.
“It’s been a really good pre-season and I’m hoping to carry that speed into the first race of 2024,” said Deagen. “We learnt a lot last year and I’m excited about getting this campaign underway. While it’s possible to overtake at Donington Park, it’s still important to get a good place on the grid in qualifying, because of the dirty air you drive in when down in the pack. If we get a good starting place, there’s no reason why we can’t challenge for top honours.”
Mika Abrahams is one of only two 15-year-olds starting this year’s British F4 Championship, but despite his young age, the South African has some good experience in single-seaters after a part-season in Formula 4 in 2023.
“I’m looking to showcase what I can do this year,” said Mika. “I’m going into this season to give 100 per cent and hoping for some decent results with a car that will be well-prepared by Hitech GP. I want to maximise my results and have a consistent points score across the 30-round season.
“The team has been amazing, they are a second family to me,” he adds. “They have been so welcoming and have helped me unlearn my bad habits from last year. I’m really happy to have a team like Hitech GP behind me.”
Abrahams took pole and finished second at Donington Park last year and is hoping to go one better as the season gets underway at the Leicestershire venue, which he admits is one of his favourites on the calendar.
“Donington Park has stood out for me as it’s such a fun track to drive on,” said the South African. “It’s fast, flowing and good for overtaking. Plus the atmosphere of the venue is amazing. I’m a big fan of this circuit layout. Of all the tracks, I probably have the most fun at Donington from behind the wheel.”
Former Ginetta Junior racer Reza Seewooruthun continues to make the transition from cars to single-seaters as he tackles his first full season of Formula 4. He also made an appearance at the F4 UAE Championship in the New Year and is excited to get his campaign up and running with Hitech GP.
“I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel at Donington Park this weekend,” said the 17-year-old from Dorset. “I learnt a lot in the F4 car in the UAE and thanks to the team at Hitech GP I’m feeling confident about the season ahead.”
