Race Report – Round 10 – Brands Hatch
A double victory in the final meeting of this year’s British F4 Championship has earned Hitech its first Teams’ title since joining the series just two years ago. Deagen Fairclough triumphed twice at Brands Hatch, extending his victory tally to an incredible 14 wins across the 30 races of the 2024 season.
As well as playing a crucial role in securing the Teams’ Championship, Reza Seewooruthun also
secured third overall in the Drivers’ standings. In the final round of the year, Reza was overtaken by Alex Ninovic and demoted to fourth at the last Safety Car restart. But after the race the stewards deemed Ninovic to be in breach of the Safety Car regulations and dropped him behind Reza in the final classification. That elevated him from fourth to third in the overall standings.
Deagen kicked off the weekend by securing his seventh C1RCUIT Watches Pole Position Award – by a razor-thin margin of 0.001 seconds ahead of Reza. In race one, Deagen sprinted into an early lead and built up nearly a seven-second gap before a Safety Car was deployed in the final stages. The Drivers’ Champion repeated this dominant performance in the fourth and final race of the weekend. Despite rain falling and the field on slick tyres, Deagen converted his pole position into another early lead, but a red flag was soon waved as conditions worsened.
When the 30th and final race of the year restarted – with most of the runners now on wet tyres – Deagen once again pulled clear of the competition. His victory in the season finale marked a record-breaking 14th win, capping off a remarkable campaign and securing the double for Hitech in both the Drivers’ and Teams’ Championships.
“What a season it’s been! I’m a bit sad it’s all over now,” said a delighted Deagen at the end of the weekend. “I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone at Hitech and ROKiT – this season is for them. It’s been phenomenal all year, and to extend the win record feels amazing. Fingers crossed it doesn’t get beaten anytime soon! We’ve put in so much hard work to achieve these records, and it was great to secure the title a round early. But even today, British F4 has thrown some challenges at us… I don’t think we’ve had a completely dry weekend all year. I’m just so happy to finish on a high note.”
After the morning’s 1-2, Reza also secured another second-place finish in race two on Saturday afternoon (a re-run from Silverstone), finishing three spots ahead of Deagen. In Sunday morning’s reverse-grid race, Reza was charging through the field, but the race was cut short by a red flag following an accident involving the leading car. With only five laps completed, it was decided to award half points rather than restart the race.
Thomas Bearman, starting from reverse pole in race two, slipped down the order but managed to secure third on the rookie podium. He improved further in the final race of the weekend, claiming second in the rookie class and finishing tenth overall.
In the final standings, Deagen topped the Drivers’ Championship on 579.5 points – a dominant 222.5 points ahead of Ninovic, while Reza was third on 271. Hitech topped the Teams’ table by 66.5 points with 807.5 in total.
“Wrapping up the British F4 Teams’ Cup is a fantastic result for Hitech at the end of a superb campaign,” said Dominic Stott, Hitech GP F4 Team Manager. “Credit to our drivers and crews for their determination to fight for the best result in every race throughout a long and competitive season.
He continued: “We also celebrate Deagen Fairclough winning the Drivers’ title so emphatically, but Reza Seewooruthun has been there throughout and third place in the standings is thoroughly deserved, while Thomas Bearman has already started making his own mark in just a handful of races.
“As ever, we’ll take the time to enjoy the moment, but it will soon be time to look forward to next year’s British F4 challenge.”
