Hitech announce highly-rated drivers Ollie Gray and Alex Dunne in the 2022 F4 UAE Championship
The team is set to venture into the 2022 Formula 4 UAE Championship for the first time, with track action getting underway on the 19th January at the prestigious Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi. The series will see teams compete in the second generation F4 Tatuus car across a calendar encompassing five rounds between Yas Marina Circuit and Dubai Autodrome.
Starting in karts in 2016, Oliver Gray took championship titles in two categories in an impressive start to his motorsport career. He made the step up to single-seaters in 2021 in British F4, finishing seventh overall in the standings. Gray is set to compete in the F4 UAE Championship with Hitech alongside teammate Alex Dunne.
With a career starting in the grassroots at the young age of nine, Dunne debuted in single-seaters in the Spanish and ADAC (German) F4 Championships, taking pole position and a podium in his maiden race at Spa-Francorchamps. On his ADAC F4 debut, Dunne took two second place finishes and two pole positions, as well as four rookie wins. For 2022, the young racer will build on his F4 progression by taking on the F4UAE Championship with Hitech across five rounds.
Dominic Stott, F4 Team Manager, said “We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to put a strong team together and with Alex and Ollie onboard we want to be challenging at the front in the teams first F4 Series. Both have shown promising speed in 2021 and we look to build on that this year.”
Oliver Gray spoke of the move to the Hitech team “I am really excited to kick-off 2022 in the UAE with Hitech GP in FIA F4. I have been able to spend some time with the guys in Silverstone at their factory and have been super impressed with their approach. They are a very successful team across a lot of categories and I hope we can have some strong results together in the UAE.”
Commenting on his signing with Hitech, Alex Dunne added “I’m pleased to be teaming up with Hitech for the F4 UAE Championship. It’s been a nice winter at home but I am looking forward to getting back in the seat, starting the new year with a new team. We aim to challenge for a strong season with plentiful victories so it will be interesting to see what we can do in the new generation car!”
